Not sure it's as powerful early on as it's harder to get combos that let you draw massive amounts of cards or cards that are vastly superior to your starting cards but later on I'd say it's generally much stronger than using favor in battles. Yeah, after playing with it for a bit I almost always use favors for burning cards. Note that you cannot burn any cards you get from skills, so if you only have Arcane 1, that mind strike will still be stuck in your deck taking up space. By getting those out of the deck, you can get the better ones. The 2 favor to burn a card option is actually quite good, as many heroes have cards which do just 1 damage or something like that.
